History of Small Pox
"For more than fifty years the populations of Australia and New Zealand (with exception of armed forces during war) were practically unvaccinated, and they have been more free of smallpox than than any other community.
The most thoroughly vaccinated countries are Italy, the Philippine Islands, Mexico and what was formerly known as British India. And all of these have been scourged with smallpox epidemics." (Lily Loat, The Truth About Vaccination and Immunization (London: Health for All, 1951), p. 28)
"Our US Government staged a compulsory vaccination campaign in the Philippines which brought on the largest smallpox epidemic in the history of that country with 162,503 cases and 71,453 deaths, ALL VACCINATED. That was between 1917 and 1919. (Buttram et al., The Dangers of Immunization, p. 42)
In England, the "ghastly epidemic of 1871-1872 broke out after 13 years of voluntary inoculations, followed by 18 years of a mandatory program, backed up by four years of Draconian (very severe) punishments" for those refusing vaccinations. (Fernand Delarue: L' intoxication vaccinale). At the time, 90% of the population was vaccinated.
"Japan started compulsory vaccination against smallpox in 1872 and continued it for about 100 years with disastrous results. Smallpox increased every year. By 1892 their records showed 165,774 cases with 29,979 deaths, ALL VACCINATED. In Australia where they had NO compulsory vaccination they had only 3 deaths from smallpox in 15 years." (Ibid., pp. 41-42)

What is of particular note is the way vaccination campaigns led to major epidemics while it was after vaccination was largely abandoned that small pox began to disappear.

Small pox vaccine associated with HIV
Here is an article from the Monday, May 11th, 1987 issue of "London Times." It was written by Pearce Wright, science editor of the paper. Mr. Wright was "Described by the Financial Times as one of the "three giants" of science journalism in his era." He served as Chairman of the Association of British Science Writers.
"Some experts fear that in obliterating one disease, another disease was transformed from a minor endemic illness of the Third World into the current pandemic. While doctors now accept that Vaccinia can activate other viruses, they are divided about whether it was the main catalyst to the Aids epidemic.
But an adviser to WHO who disclosed the problem, told The Times: 'I thought it was just a coincidence until we studied the latest findings about the reactions which can be caused by Vaccinia. Now I believe the smallpox vaccine theory is the explanation to the explosion of Aids.' 'In obliterating one disease, another was transformed.'"

Inventor of Small Pox Vaccine Finds it Transmits to Unborn Fetus
Here Jenner shares a story about a woman who was vaccinated. Her baby was born a few weeks later, covered in small pox lesions. The child died at a few weeks old.
Jenner claims this proves the success of the vaccine, as the mother exhibited no small pox lesions. He considers this proof of the safety of vaccination.
